When large areas of trees are removed, the earth in those areas is more exposed to wind which can erode the land much easier. When native species of trees are used to reforest an area, they help in different ways such as preventing erosion, rejuvenation of many other types of plant life as well as various animals that lived in the area before the trees were removed.

Along with aiding in the rejuvenation of other plants and creating a habitat for animals, the areas that have been re-planted with trees can also be used as recreation areas for people to enjoy in such ways as camping.
